Chip Webster’s passion for architecture started early in life. As a boy, he obsessively drew homes and communities. Observant of his interest, Chip’s mother asked him to design and build a family vacation home on Dauphin Island, Alabama when he was 12 years old. In high school, Chip was the President of the Physics Club and the Editor of the school newspaper. Those formative experiences set the course for a lifelong career in design and community planning.

After earning dual degrees in Architecture and Business Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Chip established a Design/Build firm in Cambridge before founding Chip Webster Architecture on Nantucket in 1991.

When Chip is not designing houses, he is likely playing in his band, making a short film, or traveling the world. With a deep passion for total solar eclipses, and having viewed over 20, Chip is one of the few who has had the privilege of experiencing an eclipse on all seven continents.
